What were the 10 best-selling cars in Denmark in 2025?
The Skoda Elroq, a compact electric SUV launched in 2025, went straight to the top in its first year. Nine of the ten best-sellers were electric.

Which car brands sold most in 2025?
Volkswagen Group dominates. Volkswagen, Skoda and Audi took three of the top four places, and seven of the ten best-selling models came from the group. The biggest movers were Cupra, up 178%, and Tesla, down 41%.

How electric is the Danish car market?
Very. The share of battery-electric cars among new registrations has climbed fast:
- 2024: 51.5%
- 2025: 68.5% (Mobility Denmark; Statistics Denmark reports 69.1%). Among private buyers it was 86.1%.
- Q3 2026: 85.4%
- September 2026: 88.8%, a monthly record.

Which cars lead in 2026 so far?
From January to September 2026, Denmark registered about 151,800 new cars, 13% more than a year earlier, and around 86% were electric. The top three, according to Bilmagasinet:
- Skoda Elroq: 7,181
- Toyota bZ4X: 6,818
- Tesla Model Y: 6,756
Toyota is the comeback story of 2026: after falling 23% in 2025, it has the bZ4X, the C-HR and the new Urban Cruiser in the top ten this year. Chinese brands are climbing too, with the Xpeng G6 among the ten best-sellers in late September.
